We keep reading that the number one reason for bankruptcy in our country is not having health insurance.  I believe that having proper, affordable health insurance is not only healthy for your finances but for your health as well.  A good medical policy encourages regular routine check-ups; this means that when illness does occur, it is caught earlier, treatment is more likely to work the first time and recovery is shorter.
Today, Maryland residents can get health insurance regardless of their health situation; pre-existing conditions can be covered as well.
          Individuals are eligible for the Maryland Health Insurance Plan if they:

1. are not part of an employer group OR
2. have been turned down for coverage within the last 6 months OR
3. have been rated or offered coverage with restrictions due to pre-existing conditions AND
4. have been a resident of Maryland for at least six (6) months. 

This means that you can have a choice of plans with an unlimited Prescription benefit, huge network of Physicians & hospitals and even the option of covering pre-existing conditions.
